I’m Mercè Rafecas, interior designer in Sitges and CEO of Mercè Rafecas Interiors, the leading interior design studio on Barcelona’s southern coast. For over fifteen years, I’ve been creating remarkable residences in what has become my signature style: Mediterranean Quiet Luxury.

When is the best time to get in touch?

For new builds: as early as possible. The sooner we’re involved, the better we can integrate the interiors with the architecture. For renovations: ideally before you buy or break ground, so we can assess the space and plan the right solutions from day one. Already mid-build? We can still come on board, review what’s in progress and help you get the most from your project.

Do you only work in Sitges and Barcelona’s southern coast?

Our studio is in Sitges, and the southern coast is our home ground: Castelldefels, Garraf, Gavà, Sant Pere de Ribes, Vilanova i la Geltrú and surroundings. For the right project, we’re happy to work elsewhere in Catalonia or Spain.

How do you reduce the number of decisions?

We know the market inside out. Rather than present you with everything available, we filter it down to a focused shortlist and present clear proposals tailored to your budget.

What’s the difference between working with just an architect, versus adding an interior designer?

Your architect defines the structure, proportions and relationship with the site. We pick up from there, refining circulation, materials, built-in furniture and lighting so the home feels coherent and truly liveable. When both disciplines work together from the start, the result is sharper, more fluid and far more elegant.

Will you work alongside my existing architect?

Absolutely. We collaborate closely to keep everything moving smoothly. As the leading studio in Sitges and along Barcelona’s southern coast, chances are we already know each other from previous projects.
